Yesterday on All Saints’ Day, the Church rejoiced with those who have already reached heavenly glory. Today on All Souls’ Day, the focus turns to praying for those who have died, asking God to show them mercy and bring them to complete peace in Heaven with the Saints.
Today we pray for the faithful departed that those who died in God’s grace may be cleansed of any remaining attachment to sin and brought into the full joy of heaven. We pray especially for those who have passed from within our families and communities.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
All you holy men and women, Saints of God, pray for us!
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Tomorrow’s saint of the day is Martin de Porres.
